Essential oils have long been used by fans of natural products for their many and miraculous properties. While some essential oils are designed to energize, others are perfect for providing some much-needed stress relief. Keep reading to find out more about some of the top essential oils for alleviating the stresses and strains of a busy day with just a few key natural ingredients.

Lavender

The most commonly available essential oil, lavender oil is renowned for its calming and relaxing properties. Considered as restorative for the nervous system, lavender helps provide a sense of well-being as well as being a natural aid for sleep deprivation and panic attacks. Studies have suggested that lavender oil can help with generalized anxiety and aid digestion. Our Natural Organic Lavender Bar Soap and Foaming Soap contain this amazing essential oil in them!

Frankincense

Frankincense is often used in meditation and in aromatherapy massage. A study of hospice patients found it had a positive effect as a pain relief and aid for feelings of depression.

Rose

The benefits of rose essential oil include the alleviation of anxiety and depression. As a natural antiseptic and astringent, it also has medicinal properties. Rose is widely used in aromatherapy practice to bring a sense of revived positivity.

Ylang Ylang

Known for its calming and uplifting properties, Ylang Ylang is used to treat the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Some evidence suggests it can even help to treat heart palpitations and decrease blood pressure.

Bergamot

This essential oil has a distinctively floral aroma, and is traditionally found as one of the key ingredients of Earl Grey tea. As a calming agent, Bergamot provides added energy, and reduces sleep deprivation by creating a relaxing atmosphere. Bergamot works particularly well when blended with other calming essential oils, including lavender and rose, as a way to reduce blood pressure. Camomile

This calming essential oil encourages a stress-free atmosphere and can help to alleviate symptoms of anxiety  with its fragrant scent and anti-depressant properties.

While essential oils are safe for use by almost anyone, in some rare instances they may have photosynthetic effects (as with Bergamot Oil) or the slight potential for an allergic reaction (as with Camomile), so be aware of your own risks for either when using them. Try adding a few drops of any of the oils mentioned above to a relaxing bath or an oil burner to create a calming and tranquil oasis ideal for ridding yourself of the stresses and strains of modern life.
